Slightly off topic…Dexter!

One of my favorite new series of books are those by Jeff Lindsay about his “serial killer that only kills bad people,” Dexter.

dexter

The blurb for Darkly Dreaming Dexter, the first book in the series reads, “Meet Dexter Morgan, a polite wolf in sheep’s clothing. He’s handsome and charming, but something in his past has made him abide by a different set of rules. He’s a serial killer whose one golden rule makes him immensely likeable: he only kills bad people. And his job as a blood splatter expert for the Miami police department puts him in the perfect position to identify his victims. But when a series of brutal murders bearing a striking similarity to his own style start turning up, Dexter is caught between being flattered and being frightened of himself or some other fiend.”

Well, that about sums up the new series Dexter on Showtime, which is (of course) based on the novels. I just finished watching the first two episodes on the Showtime site, and I am hooked!

This may become a problem though because we don’t have Showtime, and I doubt that they are going to keep putting the spisodes online for free…though I wish they would. :-P

So do I subscribe to Showtime for one show (and stay current with the series), or do I try to find the episodes on the net after the fact (which may or may not be practical), or do I just wait for the series on DVD (and totally fall behind on a show I really am getting into)?

Decisions, decisions…!!

I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford

I think you should get showtime for it. It is amazing. I read both dexter books and I LOVED them, and the guy playing Dexter is amazing…

Or you could always hope showtime puts them on iTunes….

Judie – tough decision. I subscribed to HBO just because of the Saprano’s but ended up enjoying other HBO shows once I subscribed. I’ve also waited for some shows until I could get the DVD’s from Netflix. I wouldn’t want to do that for something like “Survivor” or “Runway” but something like “Dexter” would be OK, I think. Tough decisions = life; good luck making this one. Since you BOLDED “hooked”, I suspect Showtime will increase its’ subscriber base very shortly… :)

I suspect that I will be placing a call to our local cable provider. :-P

I would wait and see if Dexter was going to be available on iTunes, but if they don’t carry it, then I’ll still be SOL…Ah well, what’s another charge on my already ugly cable bill, right? ;-)
