As many of you have noticed, I really enjoy looking at Chinese / Taiwanese mobility sites because they often have wonderful pictures of devices which we may or may not ever see in the States.
Along with the great pictures, I am sure that there are witty and informative captions posted, but a lot of the time the free World Lingo translator just doesn’t come through with an understandable translation.
Hmmm…maybe their $19.99/year browser translator service is better?
Anyway!
I recently said again: “If only I could read Chinese…”
This morning Joe, of bookofjoe fame, sent me a link to his post about Chinese-Tools.com. One of the tidbits offered on this informative site is a 10-minute a day course to learn Mandarin Chinese. And after I learn to speak Chinese, I can learn to read & write Chinese in 10 minutes a day. Sign me up, please!
I’ll back up for one moment and tell you that if you haven’t checked out Joe’s site before, then you should. It’s a mixture of everything I like to read about – tech, shopping, opinions, medical information (he is the world’s most popular blogging anesthesiologist, after all), home stuff, car stuff, kid stuff, kitchen stuff, fun stuff. It’s all covered on his site.
Most posts are punctuated with his thoughts on the item, which makes for very enjoyable reading. I’ve been visiting bookofjoe for several years, and I am still amazed by the amount of content he delivers; he leaves most bloggers in the dust!
So to get back to learning Chinese…I think I’ll try.

My girlfriend recently signed up for and dropped a Mandarin class. She’s Chinese but speaks Cantonese and while there are similarities, her knowing Cantonese made it more difficult to get the tones down. =/

Same wish as yours but in different objective, Judie – If only I could read English as well as an American…

Kismet, I can only imagine! There are so many different inflections and tones…
Larry, at least we can help each other out!
