“CrossTalk”, the First Hardware From Spb Software House…

Posted on 07 November 2006 by

[Ed note: Our newest contributor, Larry Liaw has submitted a spoof of the cup and saucer set Mobians were presented by Spb Software House. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!]

A well known Pocket PC software developer – Spb Software House – is about to release their first hardware product. In order to align with the newest version of Windows Mobile – “Crossbow”, the SPB product’s code name will be “CrossTalk”!

I was able to obtain an engineering sample at the recent Mobius Event in Phuket, here’s the close-up:

The whole set of “CrossTalk” can be easily separated into two parts – The main part is called the “CUP” (Central Unit of Processing). “CrossTalk” may work with tons of Windows Mobile devices; you can easily find those supported models printed on its exterior…

It can be operated in both HOT and COLD status depends on the kind of LIQUID applied to its “Liquid Cooling System”. Here’s the way I “start” my “CrossTalk”, I want it “COOL”~!

The other part is the “Hard Disk” -

We all know that the “Hard Disk” is used for loading “something” we need. Here I was loading the “Hard Disk”…

Sometimes a “warm-up” process is necessary to make the “Hard Disk” functional. You may use a pot, stove, pan or microwave oven to speed up the warming up process; the time for warming up depends on what you have loaded.

Like usual, the content of “Hard Disk” can either be “edit” or “deleted”. See the photo for deleting the content…

You may empty the whole content from the “Hard Disk” as well…

“CrossTalk” works well with any kind of mobile devices, notebook computers & desktop PCs without any compromises.

Here we see the product’s country of origin

Uh ha~!… Made in Thailand!

Conclusion: We need to rally together and ask Spb Software House to release their latest hardware as soon as possible. Hopefully this wonderful Windows Mobile companion will soon be available to all.

Since Larry was a child he has always been curious about the world of electronics. Right after reading the biography of the greatest inventor Thomas Edison, he made up his mind to become a person with a high-tech background that would be capable of inventing the greatest products in the world; its not only a goal, but also the dream of his life, a dream that has never died. Larry has spent a lot of time and interest in researching PDA technologies. Besides, keeping up with and studying them, Larry is an administrator of the popular Taiwanese site Palm Is Life (which has well over 36,000 members) and he also has a PDA hardware DIY web site. Larry is always looking for ways to improve the electronics devices, consumer products, even the vehicles he owns, trying to make them even more functional and convenient. He believes that this is the spirit which a high-tech person must have.

    Larry, nice hardware review…

Will they be making a tower version of the CUP? As for the Hard Disk, do you think that greater capacity models will be forthcoming in the near future? Last, what about the form factor?

I think four of the CrossTalks would be ideal in a networking environment.

    Hi WonderDawg,

Here are some specifications for the “CrossTalk”:

CUP: 2.5 inches in height, 3 inches in diameter
Hard Disk: 6 inches in diameter
Liquid for the “Cooling system”: An optional item depends on user’s demand, it can be water, soft drink, milk, coffee, tea or something you would like to fill in.

It’s a great idea to have a tower version for the CUP! Judie had sent this review to Spb Software House for their consideration on building a much powerful “hardware” in the future. Will they be named as “CrossRoad”, “CrossBones”, “Cross-eye” or ”Cross-Post”???… let’s wait and see… ;-P

I’d like to see a slightly more mobile version. Porcelain doesn’t stand up very well to being tossed in a bag.
