Kismet mentioned that he is planning to “camp out” to purchase a Wii. I’ve stood in line for hours to get Star Wars tickets and the like, but I can’t remember a single product that got me to actually sleep on the sidewalk in anticipation.
San Angelo “campers” waiting for the Nov17th PS3 release at Best Buy today
Can you?
Maybe it’s because I can usually find pretty good (and timely) deals online, but I must say that I have mad respect for anyone that would brave the elements to get their mitts on the latest gadget.
At least it is 70F here today. It will be in the high 30s tonight, tho.
I’d love to hear your stories and see your pictures if you’ve camped out before…care to share?
I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford
Yep, they are crazy… Here in New York City its currently 64F (going to drop down to 50F later) windy and raining buckets and there is a flash flood warning in effect too. And I have no plans on camping out… I have a job to keep.

It might be tolerable if you had a group of friends doing it together, and there was an ice chest full of drinks and a campfire to make s’mores.
Honestly though, I can think of lots of places I might rather camp than a store’s front sidewalk…

I accidently tumbled into some PS3 campers here in Nashville and went on a mission to find more:
