Ilium Software is about to release a major new upgrade to their fab program eWallet. In case you were wondering, this program is one of the first items that gets installed on any new PDA I buy. If you would like get in on the 5.0 Open Beta, be sure to click this link.

Improvements include:

- Synchronize with as many wallets with as many PCs and devices as you want.
- Synchronize with servers and other PCs on a network.
- Synchronize to other folders on the same PC for automated backups.
- Synchronize to removable storage devices (USB, removable hard drives, etc.)
- Synchronize with remote locations via FTP.
- Built-in online backup/viewing capability through FilesAnywhere sync.
- Brand new sync setup interface.
- Full support for Vista and Mobile Device Center.
- All new icon set.
- Four self-installing icon packs (not posted yet!)
- eWallet Companion step-by-step help tool.
- Graphics, icons, and sounds stored in My Documents now making it easier to customize.
- “No Password Needed” wallet option.

Of course, since this is a Beta, you’ll want to back up your information just to be safe.

I’ve been using it for a few days, and so far I am very impressed; a good thing just got even better! :-D

I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford

    Hi Judie,

I just sent a comment through but it either got eaten by a page refresh or may be stuck in moderation; if it’s the latter just disgard the original.

I was wondering if you’ve tried/used WebIS’s secure wallet, FlexWallet? I am interested in hearing how the two compare, the look very similar.

    Cheers,

    Robbie.

    Robbie, I haven’t tried Secure Wallet yet. I’ll take a look. :-)

Sorry to confuse, it’s called FlexWallet

Seems that quite a few products out there are quite similar between SBSH/SPB/Illium, but these two wallets are very close. I’ve been trialing FlexWallet, but it looks like eWallet now has the edge with v5.0, I might have to download the BETA…

I agree with you, these apps are mandatory given all the website creds/reg keys/general logon info that one requires these days.

    Cheers,

    Robbie.

Robbie, I’ve been using eWallet from back in the day when I had a handheld PC! I feel pretty loyal to it (and ilium) because eWallet works flawlessly, is regularly updated, works on both Palm & PPC OS, I have always received excellent support (the few times I have needed it), and the folks at ilium are just so darn nice!

What makes it hard is I know Alex Kac personally and like him very much – he’s good people! In all honesty, I think I have put off trying FlexWallet because I know I would like it and I don’t want to have to choose – or export all my cards! ;-)

Sounds good. It’s hard to put a price tag on good, solid, support. I also like the remote access feature eWallet now has… I’m sold.

P.S. Thanks for fixing the tags in my last post, I missed the XHTML ref below.
