I really enjoy using my Sprint Treo 700wx, but I’ll admit that the short antenna is not among its best features. Since Sprint isn’t about to release a 700v, I’ll just have to deal with it – right?
Well maybe now I don’t have to.
PDA Columbia had a post tonight that caught my eye. It showed a Treo 650 that had been transformed. Take a look…

It’s not quite as perfect as the smooth top of the 750v, but I really like this modification!

Will doing this to your Treo affect the warranty? Probably, but when has that stopped me before?
TreoAntenna.com has stubby antennas to fit the Treo 650 and 700 series in gray, blue and black. I’ve asked for a review sample, and one of the first things I’ll want to find out is whether or not its installation will have any effect on reception. According to their FAQ, there is no difference.
Well, well – me likey!

Back when I had a phone with a pokey-type antenna, I took it out all the time and didn’t have much of an issue. My last three phones have all had internal antennas; I greatly prefer them as they are much more comfortable in pockets.

I have a cheap LG UMTS phone that I use when I don’t want to put my 750v in harms way. It has an antenna on it which I removed the first time I used it. Never had a problem with reception. I tried it with the antenna a few times and found no discernable difference in signal strength.

If you can get your hands on a 750 you won’t regret it – I’ve got one on loan at the minute, and I’m fast becoming a fan!

Chris, I would love to have one but my main voice service is through Sprint. Hence, no 750v for me.
I am enjoying my 700wx, though. Very much.
