Bjorn from Ultra Mobile Life unboxes the Uren V1, a 30GB Korean UMPC that may or may not ever make it to the US. It reminds me in many ways of the HP iPAQ 5915, because right out of the box it includes all sorts of nifty accessories which will allow the V1 to work as an in-car navigation system.
I like the clean look of the V1’s shell – there are no external buttons around the screen, but with no built-in pointing or selection method, the Uren is probably best suited for its intended use – commands given via touchscreen.
Bjorn doesn’t mention pricing, and there’s no word on whether or not the Uren V1 will ever be available here. But in the meantime, it sure is fun to see all of the new UMPCs as they appear. Hopefully there will be tons more of them to see at CES.

Shall we take bets on whether or not the name gets changed, should the Uren ever make it to the US?
Be sure to check out Bjorn’s video and pictures here. [via jkontherun]

Well it could have been worse, they could have named it Uranus.

If this device ever makes it to the Scandinavian markets, they will surely have to change the name! In Danish, the word “uren” literally means “unclean”

No I think “Uren” is bad enough. What were they thinking?? Obviously their naming/branding/marketing department don’t speak English!!
Otherwise a very nice looking device
