I had great intentions of finishing and posting the Psyclone Gaming Accessories Nodus PSP Sound System this afternoon, but Sarah kidnapped me this morning and we went to see Eragon. For once I hadn’t read the story already, so I didn’t sit there the whole time thinking “this isn’t what happened in the book, hey!”

Instead, I enjoyed a really watchable fantasy movie with a surprisingly good cast. Rachel Weitz as Saphira the dragon, Jeremy Irons as Brom, John Malkovich as King Galbatorix, Dijimon Hounsou as Ajihad, and even Joss Stone as Angela the fortune teller. The special effects were great, and anytime something too far from the book happened (like Saphira growing up while on a single flight), I got the running commentary from Sarah.
Understanding that this 1.5 hour movie was based on a 500+ page book, I can completely see that the movie probably left out a lot of details. I’ll have to read it later, I’m sure.

You know what? On the one hand, I felt guilty taking off on a Friday when I should have been “working”, but on the other hand, I truly enjoyed the “girls day out” that it became.
The Nodus review will be posted either this weekend sometime, or perhaps Monday morning…

Is it not a fantasy Star Wars? the knights, the mentor that dies at half of the first movie while rescueing the princess, the died uncle and the house on fire, the somethingfromthesky, the “we have been betrayede” and “you’re a natural”… :S

Ha, yah – of course! But remember that the author was 15 when he began the book, I think he was 19 when he finished it. What other story would influence a 15 – 19 year old as heavily?
Besides, this movie had Dragons…and I want one.
