Slingbox Spreads Happiness – Mission Complete

Posted on 02 January 2007 by

I received an email from Kerry Woo (aka WonderDawg) last night saying, “BTW! Thanks to your post about winning a Slingbox, err… I won it! So I’ll  be posting a review shortly for Vincent that he can link to – So it does pay to read Gear Diary!

True to his word, this morning Kerry sent links to his first post about winning the Slingbox AV Internet TV Broadcaster, as well as his actual review.

Kerry ran into a temporary road block while doing his installation, but in true geek fashion he quickly found a fix – with an item he already had on hand. I’ll leave you to read about everything that happened and what he thinks about it now that it is installed, but I’ll give you one quote to mull over…

According to Kerry,”The beauty of the system that I see in using the Slingbox AV is accessing local content while out of town. If I’m in California and want to view local news or follow the Tennessee Titans, I can do so from a hotel room or any place that has Internet access. Should I forget to program a TV show like a NPR special, I can do so remotely as well. Last, I can multitask by watching sports highlights in the upper corner of my Mac while working on emails. For those who are accountants, please don’t watch the Cartoon Network at the office crunching spreadsheets!

So if you have been thinking about a Slingbox, but haven’t yet decided if this is technology that you will use, be sure to take a look at Kerry’s review.

Slingboxes retail for $179.99, and they can be found at retailers all over the web, as well as in brick and mortar stores.

You can read his full review and see all the pictures here.

Congratulations Kerry! :-D

I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford
