Chris Leckness Tells All…About CES That Is

Posted on 12 January 2007 by

One of the best parts about CES was hanging out with online friends that I have met before, people like Matt Miller (of The Mobile Gadgeteer & Geek.com), Vincent (of SlashGear and myiphone), and Jason Dunn (of Thoughts Media). But on this trip, I also had the opportunity to meet and spend time with two really nice people I had “talked” to, but had never met in person - Jack Cook (Mobility Site & Experience Mobility) and Chris Leckness (Mobility Site & Chris Leckness is a Geek).

I’ll talk more about Jack in a later post, because this one is all about Chris…a “country boy” from Alabama.

Chris and I have been emailing sporadically for some time, usually when one of us has something we would like to tell the other about for possible link-love. My first real introduction to him was his Zune unboxing video, in which – as I made note – I was tickled by his accent.

When I finally met him this week, it became quickly evident that he was not only a total geek, but that he has a great sense of humor and his mama raised him right. Even though it was completely out of his way, he delivered me safely to the Venetian’s cab queue when we left the Zune after-party – at almost two in the morning. He is truly a good guy.

So anyway!

Chris has just posted his CES trip report – which was so massive he had to break it into parts!

- CES Wrap Up / Joining the Social – Day -1 (yes, that is negative day 1)

- CES Wrap Up / Joining the Social – Day 1

- CES Wrap Up / Joining the Social – Day 2

- CES Wrap Up / Joining the Social – Day 3 (Part 1)

- CES Wrap Up / Joining the Social – Day 3 (Part 2)

He’s got tons of photos and plenty of commentary, and it would definitely be worth your while to take a look.

This year’s CES was my best time ever. Yes, I came home with sore feet, an aching shoulder and some lower back pain – whew, maybe I am starting to feel my age!

But the body aches were completely worth it, because of the contacts made, friendships solidified, and the good times that we all had together while geeking out. Thanks guys!! :-D

I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford
