Okay, so late last night Clinton Fitch did a really great job editing my i.tech Virtual Keyboard video.

Before I crashed hard this morning, I asked what he used – and was pleasantly surprised to hear that it was Windows Movie Maker – a program I didn’t even realize was on my laptop. (blushing)

Evidently my camera takes pretty decent quality videos, so for basic editing – and for my lack of skillz – I think I’ll be able to do what’s needed with it.

Thank you for all of your suggestions; once I am ready for some serious editing software, I’ll revisit this thread.

You can also try adobe premire elements. I’ve used Adobe Premiere and it does a nice job, but as mentioned is costly. My fiance uses Premere elements though and he likes it alot. However i have also seen Pinnacle for as low as $10 at fry’s after rebates. Though i tend toward the adobe side myself, i can’t knock a good deal

hi judie,

actually for basic video editing the bundled windows movie maker is pretty decent, i had the opportunity to do simple editing with it, of course pinnacle studio and imovie is always better, but i like movie maker because of its simple user interface. give it a try first and see if it meets your requirements, else download trials of few video editing software and you be the judge….

I’ve used EditStudio from Puremotion for many years. Robust, reliable and very powerful. Offers the same kind of multi-layer functions that something like Adobe Premiere does – but for a fraction of the price. Might be overkill for what you want to do, but it certainly allow you to create very professional looking movies – trial version is available too. – No affiliation with the company – just a very happy user of their products.

I have used Pinnacle Studio 7, 8, 9 and most recently 10 and up until version 9 it was ok, but 10 was appauling for stability and speed. While I had similar issues with the previous version, v10 was several times worse, and would often suffer from odd problems like not finishing a render but just stopping, requiring you to alter the project to get over the troublesome spot. I haven’t tried any other video editing apps on PC since making the switch to Mac. Unless you can get a hold of Studio 9, I would steer clear of v10.

Seriously, I’ve used Pinnacle Studio 9 on my wife’s Gateway 700GR desktop. Its not bad.

you can always use iMovie on your Mac tha… oh wait…
