Some of you might not be aware that in my copious free time I am an associate editor at MY!Phone, but I am…Surprise!

Anyway, Vincent asked me to join because he is a self-professed Mac fanboy, and I guess he sees me as a voice of reason, since I am…not.

I am however, excited to tell you about a contest that has just started, where we are giving away an 8GB iPhone, a 4GB iPhone and an iPod nano to three lucky winners on the iPhone’s launch day.

Got your attention, didn’t I? ;-)

MY!Phone Contest

So here is how you enter:

To enter, you have to trot along to Sneakmove and make their paper craft iPhone, then get creative and bling it up. You might want to stud it with jewelry or crystals and make a handset Paris Hilton would chuck her Sidekick for, maybe design the must-have accessory, or just do it all. The musically talented could maybe compose the finest ring-tone known to mankind, the only criteria is that it must be original. Entry can be done by photograph, audio or video – we’ll give you instructions on how to send them to us – and must be in by February 28th.

Since we’re an indecisive lot here at My iPhone, we’ll be asking a panel of judges from the blogosphere to pick their twelve favorite entries, and after that their fate is in the hands of the public. There are three weekly iPhone-related tasks for them to complete, and you get to vote for your favorites – each week, three people get the boot and the remainder take another step closer to those shiny prizes. When we’re down to the final three, it’s a vote to decide who gets which prize. Given the quality of some of the fake iPhone pictures we’ve seen over the years, there are obviously a whole lot of talented and creative people out there, and we’re really looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

And here is the obligatory small print: Entrance is open to US residents only, since these are phones for the Cingular network. We’ll be having more contests, however, as other regions roll out the iPhone. The winners will get gift cards for the Apple store to purchase the 8GB iPhone/4GB iPhone/2GB iPod Nano respectively. My iPhone is not responsible for the purchase or setup of cellular service with Cingular, nor ongoing cost of contract.

Employees, friends and family of My iPhone staff are not permitted to enter the competition. There will be no cash alternative and only one prize per winning individual. Multiple entries, however, are permitted. Submission of entries can begin immediately, and must be in by 5pm EST on February 28th. Remember, following selection there are three elimination rounds before the final vote, so you must be available to play if you don’t want to be disqualified!

I am looking forward to getting my hands on the iPhone. I am very interested in seeing if it lives up to even a tenth of its advance hype. Unfortunately I am not eligible for this contest – but I’ll bet that you are! Go enter – and be sure to let me know if one of our Gear Diary readers ends up winning. It happens – just ask Kerry! :-)
