HP’s Latest WM6 Phone

Posted on 12 February 2007 by

Fresh from 3GSM in Barcelona, this is the new HP iPAQ Voice Messenger.

This is to be called the HP 510, and here are a general list of its specifications:
GSM Quad-band/GPRS, EDGE
200 MHz, TI OMAP 850
64 MB RAM, 128 MB ROM
2 inch, 176 x 220 display
Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g
MicroSD
Bluetooth 1.2
107mm X 48.6MM X 16.3MM
102 grams
1100 mAh battery
Claiming 6.5 hours of talk time
HP’s Voice Commander software

It appears to be running WM6 Standard, and it’s definitely got the slim candy-bar action down, much more so than the last batch of HP “Voice Messengers”.

What do you think?

I do like the slightly humped number buttons.

I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford

Is there a keyboard hidden under there somewhere? This is so last year’s model!

Yeah the display size is a bit of a throw back too. Leave it to HP to be one step behind the rest.

Read the specs – they are even more disappointing.
