Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) is truly pathetic. After beating on it for weeks I have come to the conclusion they have done nothing but dress up the already miserable ActiveSync. Let me just rant about the useless and frustrating error messages. Those of you who have seen 0x8000E0DF know exactly what I’m talking about. Now I just made up that code but what is the difference? The “legit” codes tell you about as much of what is wrong as a made up one. When you Google that code in desperation to find an answer what you get is “recheck your connection” or some other silly diagnosis. Totally useless. Well fear not, WMDC has taken this to a new level:
No need for those annoying error codes anymore. Anyone care to Google this error message that I just got?

Well thankfully I haven’t received that error…yet.
What did you do, hook up an *older device to Vista & WMDC?

Lo, that’s simple hilarious! Go from the BSOD with heaps of error codes and nonsensical crap, to “Error” :p

The device that’s giving me that error is the BlackJack! The 8525 gives me different connection problems from time to time as well. After how many years of ActiveStink and I mean STINK, it still doesn’t work reliably or consistently. Pathetic.

I’m sure you have already – but when all else fails…remove and reinstall?
And no, you shouldn’t have to, but maybe it will work.

What’s the problem? This is the WMDC streamlined error reporting system. It’s brevity – appreciate the green!
For some reason, those concentric circles remind me of the solar system. If we assume there should be a sun in the centre and each ring represents a planet, Microsoft have helpfully added information to the error message: the error is somewhere on Earth. If that’s not enough information for you then really it seems you’re asking too much.

An interesting interpretation Melvynadam. I, for one, see in these concentric circles a vortex effect. The one you see in the toilet everyday. Maybe the added information in the circles is this : “You have been flushed” or “Its all going down the drain” ?

LOL, isn’t it obvious? Just read the screen. Windows Mobile is the error.

Hahahahaha XD That really sucks, but at the same time, it REALLY amuses me XD

I’m beginning to this is an Exchange issue. I get the same behavior with a very low success rate on synchronizing with my device which has Exchange enabled. However, my wife can sync on her PC her 8525 which doesn’t have Exchange sync enabled.
Thoughts?

Even if it is, in my case it varies from one device to another, there is no excuse for such a worthless error message! I do think you are right about it being an Exchange issue, at least partially. When I do get an error message with actual words in it, it is sometimes “cannot reach the server” or something like that. However other times it won’t even connect to the PC at all and give the wonderful and informative message I gave earlier. It is not consistent.
