If you have a Mac or a newer computer which doesn’t include a full sized PCMCIA card slot, you may have thought that your only Wireless Modem options would involve sticking a USB dongle out of a port somewhere, or something just as awkward. Not so!
Vincent Nguyen at SlashGear has just posted his impressions of Sprint’s not quite FCC approved EX720 EV-DO ExpressCard which, as the name implies, fits those PCMCIA slots which have been put on the Express Card Diet.

Yes, it’s true – every slot may soon be filled with EV-DO goodness. About the card, Vincent says, “Yet to receive blessing from the FCC, the “trial device” arrived courtesy of Sprint yesterday. My initial impression was wow; it’s really small and sturdy. Check out the images and unboxing video below to get a better idea of size in comparison to Sprint’s U720 USB modem.”
Vincent mentions that Phoenix is not yet an EV-DO market, but that he still got pretty good upstream and downstream rates while testing. See his results and read more about this skinny wonder here.
