The latest model to grace the Samsung Q line of UMPCs would appear to have had its name confirmed as the Q1 Ultra, showing up on the Samsung website under that moniker. Prior to this it has been referred to as the “Q2″ which considering the fairly major design changes seemed appropriate. While I agree with Jenn at Pocketables that “Samsung Q1 Ultra Ultra Mobile PC” sounds strange, the Q1 Ultra name is here to stay (at least its better than UREN). Some sweet upgrades adorn the Q1 Ultra both inside and out including a higher resolution screen (1024×600 vs. 800×480), integrated 1.3 and 0.3MP cameras, WiFi/BT2.0/HSDPA/WiBro AND a PepperPad-style split thumboard. It also comes with Vista Home Premium out of the box, so I can see this making a sweet portable media centre device as well.
The formal unveiling will occur at CeBIT 2007 in Hannover, Germany. Damn I wish I was there! The Q1 Ultra is definitely shaping up to be a sweet successor to the Q1P. I want one!!!

This is the first UMPC that I’m actually excited about. The form factor looks great!
