Cassily, our friend at Vavolo, sent this bit of news today which I thought might interest Gear Diary Readers…
Vavolo is selling some serious replacement parts for both Sony PSPs and PlayStations. These goodies may be exactly what some of you DIY’ers have needed.
“What is a great solution for your broken PSP system? Take a replacement part and fix it at a reasonable price. Motherboard suits for all PSP console.”
“New products in the market, save money and fix your PS3 system. Our laser replacement is a complete unit and is an easy part to fit, the installation takes about 15 minutes. You don’t need any special tools to fit the part; you can do the job with just two screwdrivers and a stanley knife.”
There’s nothing more fun than taking apart your toys. Actually putting them back together in better shape than when you began is a good thing, too.
I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford
I can see the motherboard being relatively popular to people who have bricked their PSPs with a bad flash. Nice find!

It never seems all that easy whenever I have read the directions about how easy it will be to replace an electronic part on a game system or PDA, etc. It seems like most manufacturers make their products as closed systems not to be opened otherwise why would they void the warranty when they are? Still, I think it’s a good idea to have that option.
