Modaco is reporting that they have a reliable source telling them the Motorola Q9, the UMTS 3G upgrade to the original Q reviewed here on Gear Diary, will be available soon on 3 in the UK. It will be part of 3’s X-Series line of devices which offers high-speed data access (with a generous amount of usage per month), unlimited email, Orb/Slingbox and instant messaging for a flat fee, all good things for a device like the Q9.
I am personally considering the UMTS 2100Mhz version of the Samsung Blackjack (the SGH-i600), but this is another tempting option! Hopefully 3 see fit to release this phone in more than the UK, as they have a habit of releasing phones in some markets and not in others (eg. The Dopod U1000 is already available in Hong Kong but not a word of it here in Australia).
