A few weeks ago, I got hooked into video editing. During the season finale of Battlestar Galactica, the SCIFI channel advertised making your own fan videos using the toolkit they have available for download on their website. While they call it a toolkit, its not really a software program but video, sound, and music clips which you can use in making a video with your choice of video editing software.

I had never used video editing software before, so I had no idea which program I should look at using. One of the suggestions from Judie was to use Windows Movie Maker, which of course comes free with Windows XP… and I overlooked it being there. Thanks Judie! :)

Windows Movie Maker is very simplistic in features and editing capabilities, but it is strong enough to help get the job done easily. I was able to piece together Battlestar Galactica video clips and insert a mp3 of the Power Rangers theme to make my first video, which I call Battlestar Power Rangers. I showed Judie my video and she said it was really good and I should post about it… so here it is for all Gear Diary readers to view.
