It does look a bit like a penguin, doesn’t it? But under its plastic cap is a car charger and on its back is an electrical plug. How does this doodad power your Pocket PC? By adding this…

Today I’m pleased to announce the latest review here at Clinton Fitch (Dot) Com! For this review I cover the PocketPC Tech Lil’ Sync Penguin and Lil’ Sync Pro Cable.

One of the challenges most Windows Mobile device users face is that of battery life. While it is true that battery life has dramatically improved over the past several years on Windows Mobile devices, it is clear that, when compared to feature phones or cellular phones, they still have a long way to go. Today, most devices average around 6 hours of talk time with a standby time of a day. This varies greatly by device and how the device is used. As more-and-more users enable push technology on their devices, these times will shrink.

Seeing this power challenge, especially to those who travel, PocketPC Tech has developed an extensive line of power accessories to keep you and your device going strong. Most people know PocketPC Tech for their outstanding memory upgrades as well as being the official support provider for i-mate devices here in North America. In addition to these services, PocketPC Tech has an extensive line of accessories for a wide range of devices. Recently, PocketPC Tech sent me their Lil’ Sync Penguin charging device along with a Lil’ Sync Pro cable to review. Being one who travels almost weekly, I knew I would be able to run these accessories through a good test cycle and truly evaluate their usefulness. Now, a few months later, the Lil’ Sync’s always are with me in my laptop bag!

I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford
