I am always checking Cingular/ATT’s site for deals when it comes to WM devices. Personally, I’m not crazy about SmartphoneOS (called WM Standard, in version 6.0); but this is just TOO awesome of a deal to pass up.
I was checking out Cingular/ATT’s site today and saw a GREAT deal on the Blackjack that I just couldn’t pass up. You can get a Blackjack for as little as $50 (plus tax) if you act now; and don’t mind buying refurbished equipment. I’ve got a quick screenshot of the prices below, and this deal may not be available in every market, but if you’ve got it, and are looking for a Blackjack, this may be the time to jump on board!
If you don’t want to take the chance with the refurb, they are selling the Blackjack for $175, with a $100 mail in rebate, bringing the price down to $75! This is just an awesome deal!! Like I said, I couldn’t pass it up, and my Blackjack order is currently processing. In light of pocketnow’s recent post on a possible WM6 upgrade for it, this is not only an awesome deal, but exciting news!

Chris & Judie,
I am so grateful for passing along this article!
Not only did I go online to Cingular (where the deal existed – look for a refurbished unboxing of a reboxing review of a Blackjack posting soon) but I discovered a significant billing error where I was reducing my plan last month from 2100 to 1400 minutes. However on my secondary line under the Family Talk option, I was dinged the 2100 minutes when the rate was normally $9.95. And I don’t know why Cingular gets a bad rap; I called Cingular at 1:33 CST, reached a Beverly on Pacific Time on the second ring and she credited my account $249.00 in overage charges.
If I hadn’t read the posting, I probably would not have caught the billing mistake in time and scored a Blackjack as well!
Moral of the story? It ALWAYS PAYS to read GearDiary!

Glad to hear it Kerry. Mine shipped out in the wee hours of the morning (2:13am) from Ft. Worth and should arrive on Tuesday. However, Cingular/ATT’s system is now showing the refurbs on back-order, so looks like mine squeeked in just under the wire.
I just got off the phone with them and I’m glad I called. The order e-mail I got this morning said that the device assigned to my order number was on backorder and that I should call for availability. I called…it shipped. I have a tracking number, and like I said, Tuesday is the day. We’ll wait and see.

In Progress: Our fulfillment center is processing your order for shipment… is my status; but it’s only been seven hours…

Kerry, that reminds me of when I had a Verizon (formerly GTE) land line and I had to watch my bills like a hawk because they were always changing my plan to something outrageous! A $249 over charge is atrocious!
Chris, I so wish that the Blackjack was available on Sprint…or that the Motorola q9 would be. GSM carriers always get the cool phones.

FYI, you can get a NEW (not refurbished) AT&T Samsung Blackjack from authorized dealers for Free (That’s $0.00), vs. $75. Save the $75, get the same phone and use that savings toward accessories like a bluetooth headset.
And BTW, if there are some that don’t charge for shipping like Cingular / AT&T corporate does.
Here’s details of one authorized dealer that’s offering:
>> A free Blackjack to new or existing customers
>> PLUS you get free FedEx shipping
