Will the Palm Treo 755p Battery Fit the 750?

Posted on 12 May 2007 by

Well it would be lovely if that were the case, but evidently it is not. Chris Leckness has posted a pictorial showing why the two similarly sized Treos can’t share a battery…and it’s really too bad, because the battery in the 755 (Palm OS) is 400mAh larger than the 750′s (WM5 OS).

Hmmm…conspiracy? Maybe!

According to Chris, “The Treo 750′s stock batter is 1200mah and the 755p’s is 1600mah and they both are 3.7v, so I decided to try. It works, the pins line up, the unit powers on, but you can’t put the cover on.  I am sure someone could come up with some sort of hack to the casing to allow this, but I don’t wanna damage my devices.”

He’s also posted a great video of his Treo 755p unboxing with impressions…

I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford

I don’t suppose it’s a simple a solution as removing the chunk of foam that’s stuck to the inside of the battery cover on the 750. The manufacturers tend to make this kind of thing difficult for the non-diy type.
