G-A says “Feast you eyes on the Fujitsu UMPC”? Well I am, I am!

“Unveiled at WinHEC, the Fujitsu UMPC features an 800 MHz Intel Sealey Processor, a 40GB hard drive and 1 GB of RAM. Besides that, the UMPC features 2 cameras and a 5.6-inch display so you can easily bring this bad boy wherever you go.”

I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford

WOW!!! That looks really cool! Any more info about it? Runs Vista? Looks like something I would want to get… but that “probably in the $2,000+ range” cost, eck! :P

I just read that PC World review-I’m a little worried about the true usability of that keyboard-it mentions that you can use your thumbs to type while holding on to both sides of the machine-I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t want a keyboard like the old Toshiba Liberetto which had a full keyboard with chicklet keys-that’s as bad as a thumb keyboard on the Samsung Q1 Ultra-thumb keyboards are ok for a cell phone or a pocket pc phone, but a full laptop with windows xp or vista? It just doesn’t cut it-we must hold off on final judgment until the Fujitsu is actually in a reviewers hands to see what the keyboard usuability is but for my part I’m interested in playing with a UMPC with a fully usuable keyboard (is the HTC Shift up to that?) Why can’t they make a UMPC with a keyboard the size of the Mobile Pro 790?
