Akihabara News’ CrashBaby Section

Posted on 16 May 2007 by

G-A and I were talking tonight, and he pointed me to a CrashBaby story he had just posted about a Digital Audio Player that had been packaged and delivered by DHL. I guess I have been hiding under a rock, because I had never heard the term “crash baby”, although I could guess what the name implied…

Sure enough.

According to G-A, the concept behind CrashBaby is simple: “Send us photos of your broken devices.” Like this Sony Ericsson P800

…or this HTC universal!

Oh the humanity!

The 42″ LCD CrashBaby pictured below almost brought a tear to my eye. ;-)

As it turns out, Akihabara News has full CrashBaby sections in English and French, dedicated to bringing these heart-breaking photos to their readership. G-A said to let you all know that he would be happy to post your photos, so feel free to send them in with a short explanation of what happened!

I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford
