Clinton Backs Up to a Sprite

Posted on 17 May 2007 by

Clinton Fitch has just posted his latest software review at Clinton Fitch (Dot) Com!, and this time he turns his microscope to Sprite Backup 5.1

Sprite Backup is, as the name implies, a backup solution for your Windows Mobile devices. Why would you need a backup solution? Well as Clinton explains…

As Windows Mobile devices have continued their surge into the marketplace, the amount of information being stored on them has surged as well. No longer are simple items such as calendar or contacts the only items being stored. Now many users store critical business or personal data, documents, spreadsheets and even software images for quick re-installs while on the road. Today, more than ever, a backup solution for your mobile device is a necessity and no longer a luxury.

He goes on to say that…

While all of the configuration of Sprite Backup can be done through your PC, the application running on your Windows Mobile device can be configured independently and does not require the use of the PC client. Further, backups and restorations do not require PC intervention as backup files are stored with your device on a Storage Card. How you need to use Sprite Backup will be determined by your needs but providing a PC/Device partnership of sorts or complete independence gives you the flexibility to choose.

So does he recommend it? Better read his review and find out! :-)

I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford

I’ve been using Sprite Backup for years now, and it has saved me more than once! The self extracting backup feature is awesome…I’ve had an unexpected hard reset while on the road, and was back up in minutes with the previous day’s backup. I’d sure recommend it to anyone!
