Turkish Delight! A New Give Away

Posted on 21 May 2007 by

Update: This contest is now closed. The winners are as follows…
1. applejohnney – the leather cell bag
2.
jaxim – the brown mouse pad
3.
broache – the red mouse pad

After posting about the BeyzaCASES new iPhone case the other day, I learned that the Turkey based company offers quite a few accessories for those PDAs and PDA phones which aren’t quite as exotic (or quite as unavailable) as the iPhone. When asked if I would like to review their Treo 700wx case, I had to decline since I regularly use the Seidio extended battery, and they didn’t have a compatible case.

A few days ago, I received an email from Ali Yildirim of BeyzaCASES saying that a “gift pack” containing two leather mouse pads and a leather cell bag were on their way; today it arrived…

The mouse pads are evidently not available for retail sale from BeyzaCASES, although after opening the package and checking them out, I think they should be. They are scrumptious!

yummy!

The white stitching on the tan or red leather is lovely; the gliding surface of each pad is smooth flat leather, and the comfortably raised wrist rest is suede.

The underside of the mouse pad is suede, too.

The whole effect is pretty darn decadent, and I’ll give Gear Diary readers a chance to find out for themselves, because I’m offering them both in a new give-away. :-)

The other included item was a tan leather “cell bag”, which Ali said they will soon be selling. The unisex bag is composed of tan leather with tan stitching, and it measures approximately 5.5″ tall x 3.5″ wide x 2″ thick.

There is an integrated 2.25″ leather belt loop on the rear, but there are also metal grommets on either side to accept the included shoulder strap.

The dual compartment case is kept shut with a magnetic snap…

…and the interior is sized to carry a small digital camera, digital music player, or a mobile phone; it will easily hold my Treo or Zune.

The case’s front compartment snaps shut, and it has a mesh ID pocket worked into the outer wall. Here is a picture of the cell bag with the adjustable shoulder strap attached; it looks like the perfect solution for a “traveling light” day.

Interested? Here’s how you can win:

Write a comment in reply to this post telling me your favorite mobile device so far, as well as your least favorite. You don’t have to say “why” on either, but it might be fun for others to read your thoughts. For this give-away, we will consider a mobile device to be: all PDAs, PDA phones, mobile phones, digital music players, UMPCS, and heck – even laptops. Let’s keep it pretty open and pretty broad.

I’ll pick the three winners, and I will choose who wins what…but if you have a particular item that you would really like to win, do let me know. :-)

Here are the rules:

  • You must be registered on Gear Diary to enter and comment.
  • Make sure that you have judie (at) geardiary . com in your non-spam list – if I don’t hear from you within 48 hours the item will go to someone else.
  • Give-away closes at 5:30 pm CST on June 1, 2007.
  • Winners will be announced soon after.
  • All decisions on the winners will be made by the Gear Diary Team, and they are final.
  • Contest is open to everyone, everywhere – unless there is some legal reason why a particular item can’t be shipped to your country. In that unlikely event, the item will go to someone else.
  • I’m paying postage – but you are responsible if there are any import duties or taxes.

I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford

Very nice. But I’ve gotta tell you… nothing can compare to authentic Turkish Delight of the edible sort! ;-)

My favorite mobile device would either be my compact 7MP camera (which is so small and takes awesome pictures) or my cellphone (which I have on me at all times).

My least favorite…hmm.. that’s a hard one, since I’m totally a gadget guy and I like all my gadgets. But if I had to pick one, it would be my old collage calculator since I never use it anymore since I have a calculator on my computers and even on my cell phone.

If I win, I’d like one of the mousepads — they’re pretty sweet looking, but I’ll take whatever you give me. ;-)

My favorite device has to be my iPod. Even as a self-professed anti-Apple guy, it has really been a great device. I have even considered buying an Apple notebook recently!!

My least favorite? The first “portable” phone I had. It cam in a bag and never seemed to work when I needed it. The battery life was about 15 minutes and reception was horrible. Amazing how far we have come…

My favorite has to be my wife’s Canon PowerShot SD700 IS. Small camera but takes wonderful shots. I bought it last year for her for our wedding. How romantic, huh? A gadget as a gift for our special day? Well, I think it was practical since we were able to use it on our Hawaiian honeymoon. Plus, I also bought her earrings to wear for that day, so I’m not that bad of a gadget fanatic. I do have a little romance in me. ;-)

My least favorite would have to be my current mp3 player. It’s not that bad, but it’s about 4 years old and so many better devices have come out since then. It feels so clunky compared to them, and it can;t even play videos.

If I’m selected, then I’d want the little purse so I can give it to my wife for her camera.

My favority would be my Dell Axim X5 … over 4 years old and running strong. I use this all the time, and keep finding different things for it.

My least would have been my first cell phone, the Motorola V600, but only because of the AT&T software that would not allow the phone to switch to a non-AT&T tower if it would have the slightest AT&T signal. I could not use the phone at home, but ever phone I have had since works great at home, 4-5 bars!
