All Aboard For the Vomit Comet

This morning, I received a email from The Sharper Image advertising “Experience Weightlessness – Like An Astronaut In Space!” Now this is interesting, for a mere $3,675.00 (plus 5% tax), you can ride a similar airplane to the one used to train astronauts for zero-G environments. The price includes a 90 min flight, photographs, DVD video, flight suit, and an after-party to celebrate coming back to Earth.

Now seriously, the average person is not going up for a ride. I know I am not, if I was going to spend that kind of money it would be on a fully loaded kick-ass Voodoo computer or a DELL XPS gaming system. And, riding what the astronauts lovingly call the “vomit comet” is not really my idea of fun as I am prone to motion sickness and I think that I fall into that one third of people who will become “violently ill” riding the darn thing.

But, if you got the bucks to throw and don’t mind getting “violently ill” or are immune, then a zero-G experience maybe just for you ;)

Hmmmm….$4K will buy an awful lot of gadgets that I could enjoy for much longer than one afternoon.

However, if money were no object, this might be one of the ultimate thrill rides. I am sure I would puke, too. ;-)
