I’ve always been jealous of US-based iTunes users and their ability to buy TV shows and movies – something that’s still not available in other countries. Don’t get me wrong – I download videos just as much as the next person, but being able to download an entire season of a particular TV show for around US$34.95? The time I save alone makes it incredibly worthwhile, not to mention the guaranteed quality you get from a commercial source.
Granted, buying a DVD box set is ultimately more practical in the long run, but for something I’m probably just going to watch once and then put away, a digital version makes sense. Also, it appeals to my ‘impulse buyer’ sensibilities – I’m much more likely to hit a ‘Purchase’ button and get the instant gratification hit from downloading than I am to find a physical product in a store and then line up to pay for it. Urgh, how antiquated!

Lucky for me, a recently-discovered workaround lets Aussie users buy TV shows and movies through the iTunes US store – just sign up for PayPal using a US address! Naturally I’ve tried this out myself, and it works just as promised. Sweet! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some TV shows to watch …

I’ve taken this for granted down here in Ozzz.. I have a US address (real!) and a US credit card and have just been through downloading the 6th season of 24.
Now to just figure out how to share this with my friends :-O
