The Windows Mobile Encyclopedia of Software and Accessories

Posted on 26 May 2007 by

You may have noticed that I, along with Clinton and Doug G., am on the Smartphone and Pocket PC Magazine panel of judges for their 2007 Software Awards. What you may not have realized is that the magazine maintains an extensive database of applications and accessories that are available for these Windows Mobile devices.

Are you searching for a particular type application, utility or game for your Windows Mobile device, or a particular accessory? Then look no further…

Contained within this database are “4487 Products for Windows Mobile™ Pocket PCs and Smartphones and Windows® Powered Handheld PCs.”

I have a subscription to the magazine and I have been a judge in past years, but I never even realized that this resource was available! So I figured if I wasn’t aware of it – then it might be a pleasant surprise for Gear Diary readers, too. If you haven’t already, take a look. You can browse by categories including Hardware, Software, & Services, and you can also search by word or phrase. This might be a true time saver if you need a particular type program and you have no clue about where to start looking.

A special note for vendors and developers: you owe it to yourself to get your product placed in the encyclopedia; if you haven’t already you can do so here. Not only will it allow people who visit the opportunity to see your product among the available WM software and accessories listed, it will allow your product to be considered for nomination in the 2007 Awards. You can’t be nominated if you aren’t in the database, so don’t delay – get in there now. :-)

I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford

This is great to see. The interface and search tool has been significantly improved and it is much easier to find things in this tool now. :-)
