Ashley Dunn has just posted an in-depth review of the Vaja 15 Messenger Bag, and her review – coupled with Jason’s pictures – is enough to make me want to say the phrase “Caterina Ruby Wine with Caterina Dark Citron” repeatedly; well…that and “yum!”

Like me, Ashley has found that the Vaja bag doesn’t only function very well as a laptop carrier, it also makes a great everyday messenger bag. About it she says, “While I’m not using it as a laptop bag, rather as a shoulder bag, it serves its purpose well. I carry my wallet, phone and Pocket PC, along with a few assorted goodies in my bag. Some may think it’s a bit big for just those few things, but it serves as a great multi-purpose bag as I also tuck my lunch and water bottle in with the regular bits, and it saves me the hassle of having to carry multiple bags, plus it looks good too. And lest anyone think that this is a bag only for women, Vaja offers an assortment of manly colour combinations that will please just about anyone.”

But lest you think that Ashley has taken the easy way out and not covered just how geeky this bag can be, have no fear! She has posted pictures of it carrying a variety of laptops and PDAs, and covered all of its features very well.

If you have been wondering about whether a luxurious Vaja laptop bag will hold up, or whether it might be a good bag for your particular use, then you should take a look at Ashley’s review. I’ve been using mine since December, and I have to say that I couldn’t have said this any better:
The quality of my new Messenger Bag is unsurpassed. I wouldn’t say I abuse it, but I take it everywhere with me, and it has yet to show any signs of wear and tear. The stitching is solid, and the strap is secure. The zippers are strong, and the lining is sturdy – certainly capable of supporting a laptop and all its various accessories. I never worry about a strap coming loose or a zipper breaking on me. This is a bag designed with the highest of standards in mind, and it is wonderfully apparent that the attention to detail Vaja has always prided itself on is once again of the utmost importance with this new line of Messenger Bags.

Y’know, I really, really love Vaja’s cases, especially the iVolution line, but $400 just seems a little overboard for me. But then, it took me a few years to ramp up to the point that I was paying as much as I did for my first iVolution case so I may end up with one of these eventually.

Chris, I know exactly what you mean. But I guess if you look at it as a bag that you will carry for years to come, it’s not quite as painful. PDAs come and go, cases come and go, but a good laptop bag can last a lifetime.

That’s a good point! Unfortunately, I have other financial priorities at the moment, so this will have to wait.
Might be time for me to get a bag tree.

Get the bag tree…if you get it, the bags will come.
Sorry, couldn’t resist.

Another tasty-looking bag from Vaja! Good grief, the price is way out of my reach and I am perfectly satisfied with the nice Ego bag I got from Judie
Now it goes everywhere with me.
I doubt I will ever spend that much to get a bag. Still saving up (by eating grass) for that D80 kit :p

“Still saving up (by eating grass)…”
Ew. I hope not literally.
