Final Battle for Battlestar Galactica

Posted on 03 June 2007 by

The executive producers of Battlestar Galactica, Ronald Moore and David Eick announced that they will be bringing the show to a end with the 4th season of the show.

Here is the release from the SciFi Channel,

This show was always meant to have a beginning, a middle and, finally, an end,” Eick and Moore said in a statement on May 31. “Over the course of the last year, the story and the characters have been moving strongly toward that end, and we’ve decided to listen to those internal voices and conclude the show on our own terms. And while we know our fans will be saddened to know the end is coming, they should brace themselves for a wild ride getting there: We’re going out with a bang.”

This November, SciFi will air a special two hour Battlestar episode titled, “Razor”. The plot of this episode will involve the Battlestar Pegasus several months prior to it finding the Galactica. And the fourth season is set to start airing in early 2008.

I sure do hope that they finish off the final season with a solid good story. As hinted in the end of the third season final episode, they find Earth. Makes me wonder if they will go the same route as in the short lived series Galactica 1980 for the story line?

I saw that this morning also. It’s sad, but I have mixed feelings. The quality has gone up and down, sometimes to the point where I wondered why I keep watching it, and other times so good it was awesome. At least this way, the story does get to close up with a nice finish (hopefully).

And at least we have Speed Racer and Get Smart movies to look forward to! ;-)

Unfortunately, the private eye, spy and sci fi genres seem to be drying up a bit now. Even Veronica Mars is cancelled. Alias is gone. About all that is left now (that isn’t freaky or ultra contemporary) is 24. Look for it to be cancelled too, as one of the last remaining shows I really enjoy!
