Summer Time, and the Livin’s Easy

Posted on 13 June 2007 by

If you are headed to the lake this weekend to do some tubing, you probably shouldn’t lug along your leather wallet loaded with all those credit cards and cash. Instead you need bare bones, and that’s where the JimiX wallet shines. Freshly reviewed and videoed by Jared on Cheapedia, the JimiX is “for people that need a little more Jimi,” referring to the original Jimi wallet of course.

About the need for the JimiX versus the original Jimi he says, “One of the main complaints of the original Jimi was that it’s capacity to carry bills was too limited and unless you were rolling with hundies, it could a real hindrance. Taking that feedback to heart the JimiX is basically the Jimi in everyway except the money clip has been moved from the inside to the outside.”

If you want to take look at a minimalistic wallet that won’t take a bit out of your bankroll, then you should read Jared’s full review and see the video here. :-) He’s also giving one away on the site, so be sure to check that out, too!

I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford

For those of you who don’t necessarily live in a hot climate near a river (e.g., Austin Texas), “tubing” is the recreational activity whereby one dresses in as little as possible (usually swimwear), gets a large innertube, and floats with one’s rear in an icy river. Preferably with an alcoholic beverage near to hand.

In Santa Cruz, we didn’t go tubing; the summertime temperature tended to drop into the 50s, rendering such things unnecessary. Also, you could always surf. In San Jose, the nearest river (the Guadalupe, which is pronounced gwa-duh-LOOP-eh, you dumb Austinites, *not* gwa-duh-LOOP; yeesh) is not something that you want to expose your naked skin to unless you want to risk mutation.

    So, “tubing.” Now you know.

Thank you Doug! Isn’t it funny how I just assumed everyone knew what tubing was? So yeah, for those of you shaking your heads…you haven’t lived until you’ve tried it at least once. ;-)
