Some enterprising editor has spliced together three iPhone ads, including Apple‘s latest which talks about how “no iPod does this…”
This video is really intriguing to watch, and the ooooh! factor is very high. In fact, I think it’s safe to say that after watching, you’ll want to (at the very least) play with an iPhone; the pretty GUI simply looks amazing.
But.
Am I the only one who watches the guy’s finger sliding all over that gorgeous screen while thinking about how greasy it will feel after sitting on someone’s face? Maybe Apple has also created a face grease and fingerprint-resistant screen material, but somehow I doubt it.
I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford
Yes, that’s one of my big questions, too. In fact, I think that Apple, as well as other companies, may spin off the iPhone video watching as its own separate device (I blather on about that on my own blog here: http://dougs-random-blather.blogspot.com/2007/06/place-shifting.html), partly because of that. I mean, Steve Jobs may feel that “the finger is the ultimate pointing device,” but Stevarino, it’s not the ultimate *writing* device, ya know?
Fingers have oil. Faces have oil. (Especially *mine*.)
So yeah, that’s definitely one thing I’ll be looking at when I test this baby. One of the things we like to do for our Gear Diary readers, right? Lengthy testing!
