While some may consider my disinterest in and not wanting a iPhone to be considered sacrilegious of being a geek, I do however find the iPhone disassembly pictures very interesting. I really like seeing how things are made and what hides under its outer casing. It appears the very same day that the iPhone came out, the guys at iFixit acquired a couple of units and disassembled one of them for the viewing pleasure of the curious.
For a device that can do so much, it sure does not look like much as its sum parts. But, since there is no physical keyboard or other moving parts, the reduced amount of parts to see makes sense. Pretty impressive how far electronics have come in the last several years, just look at how tiny the motherboard is with its surface mount components. It is almost a thing of beauty (yeah, only a special geek would appreciate the design of a devices motherboard).

Added later by Judie: Joe Stirt, of bookofjoe.com fame, also sent a link to the Anandtech dissection which has even more lovely photos of the iPhone spilling its guts. Thanks Joe! ![]()
