Batter Blaster: Pancakes in a Can

Posted on 12 March 2008 by

Good lord, I don’t even know where to start with this. Joe Stirt sent me a link to a post he did about product that sounds so wrong that it just might taste good…hey, weirder things have happened, right?

The product is Batter Blaster, a pancake spray in a can. Think Easy Cheese, Reddi Whip, and Fix-a-Flat; oh wait, one of those things might not belong in that list. ;-)

Oh admit it, the junk-food lover in you is completely intrigued!

Joe found a blog entry where the writer, Beth Terry, wrote about them. Her concern was more ecological than gastrointestinal…

As I stated in my comment, it’s not like pancake-making the traditional way is a slow process. In this CNet video comparing canned Batter Blaster with traditional batter-making, mixing up batter the old fashioned way took 3 whole minutes, compared to the 5-second squirt from the can. So we’re now creating disposable steel and plastic containers, more physical waste, just to save 3 freakin’ minutes? Give me a break!

My question is, how freaking lazy do you have to be to not mix and pour your own? My next question is, how many pancakes do you get from a can? I might have to try them…

Joe asked, “I wonder what would happen if you just sprayed some on the microwave platter and then nuked it….”

Do it Joe! Then report back and let us know. ;-)

I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford
