Good lord, I don’t even know where to start with this. Joe Stirt sent me a link to a post he did about product that sounds so wrong that it just might taste good…hey, weirder things have happened, right?
The product is Batter Blaster, a pancake spray in a can. Think Easy Cheese, Reddi Whip, and Fix-a-Flat; oh wait, one of those things might not belong in that list.

Oh admit it, the junk-food lover in you is completely intrigued!
Joe found a blog entry where the writer, Beth Terry, wrote about them. Her concern was more ecological than gastrointestinal…
As I stated in my comment, it’s not like pancake-making the traditional way is a slow process. In this CNet video comparing canned Batter Blaster with traditional batter-making, mixing up batter the old fashioned way took 3 whole minutes, compared to the 5-second squirt from the can. So we’re now creating disposable steel and plastic containers, more physical waste, just to save 3 freakin’ minutes? Give me a break!
My question is, how freaking lazy do you have to be to not mix and pour your own? My next question is, how many pancakes do you get from a can? I might have to try them…

Joe asked, “I wonder what would happen if you just sprayed some on the microwave platter and then nuked it….”
Do it Joe! Then report back and let us know.

I wonder how frequently the nozzle clogs.

Ha! Good question. I would imagine that this is a one-time-use product, so hopefully you can get through the experience without the nozzle clogging. I bet if you tried to store it after that first use it would totally clog, though.

I love how they start the product name with “Organic”….

That’s because it is USDA Organic!

Oh – nine pancakes to a can…nice.

I have to admit that I’m really curious how they taste. That has college student written all over it. No bowls to clean up later.
My other half makes the world’s best pancakes, and I know no can could match that.

Ah yes…”organic”. I was just talking to a co-worker about how “organic” doesn’t equal healthy. We were talking about how slapping a whole foods label on a candy bar doesn’t magically remove the calories, but this is another excellent example!

I dunno. This might be a great idea for camping. That way you don’t need to take a mixing bowl. Of course I would just get a pancake shakup thingy instead of this. In camping, things that crush are better then things that don’t….like this.
