Long about the same time I discovered the Linux Link Tech Show, I found Lugradio, which is this week’s Open Source podcast of the week.
Hailing from the UK, specifically Wolverhampton, Lugradio was started by members of the Wolverhampton Linux User Group many years ago. The original presenters of the show were Jono Bacon, Matthew Revell, Stuart “Aq” Langridge and Stephen Parkes. The current show hosts are Jono Bacon - the only host who has been on every season of Lugradio, Aq, Chris Proctor and Adam Sweet.
Always cheeky, often informative and occasionally profane, these guys have interviewed many of the open source community and provide their own form of entertainment in many different ways.
For example, there are segments called the Lugradio Finger of God, The WTF Book Truck where each host would pick a book and chat about that book, Hype Or Sh!te where they discuss whether something is hype, or that OTHER word. These segments are usually good for a laugh.
These gents from the UK have also started their own conference called Lugradio Live. Lugradio Live usually features a live recording of the show and many other presentations. It is done in the spirit of the Linux community with open invitations for presentations. Started in 2005, Lugradio Live crossed has now even crossed over to the US, with Lugradio Live USA happening April 12th-13th in San Francisco, CA at the Metreon. Not forgetting where they came from, the regular Lugradio Live is ALSO happening this year on July 19th-2oth in Wolverhampton, UK. If you’re within range of either of these locations, make sure to check them out.
Lugradio is 4 bloody chaps who love to talk about Open Source, and they have a great time doing that and are very entertaining. Check out their website and subscribe to their show, or check out information on either of their Lugradio Live events.
