(Update: 3/24/08 – Deal Expired – sorry) — Hot on the heels of Tuesday’s Technet 40% off code is an unbelievably better deal for students. For only $99 they’ll score working copies of the major operating systems, Microsoft Office 2007, Microsoft Dynamics and CRM. There’s two catches. You have to know the secret code. You have to be a student (of something). Just remember, the same way those cable tv descramblers of the 80’s were for “experimental test purposes”, these non-expiring licenses are for evaluation use only. Read on for the link and save your student $250.

The Microsoft Technet subscription allows for access to technical resources like the Technical Information Library as well as the most popular Servers & Operating Systems, 2007 Microsoft Office and Microsoft Dynamics Software (here’s a link to the complete list of the software & benefits).
Technet Student Discount Code (Update 3/24/08 – Deal has apparently expired):

Notes: It appears this code is only valid for the download (Direct) subscription, will work only for NEW subscriptions and only provides the software license to use the above mentioned products for evaluation and not in production. And in true Microsoft fashion, it looks as if you’ll need to use Internet Explorer to place your order (I was not able to successfully use Firefox – only when I switched to IE would the order go through.)

This is a hot deal for those with kids in school. I have no idea how Microsoft justifies their “evaluation use only” moniker when offering this to students (presumably college).

Wayne:
This is great news – but curious whether this also covers MAC versions of products like “Office”.
Any clue?
I know my Action Pack subscription did NOT.

Rob -sorry, no Mac.
My school does not belong to the MS student program so I cannot get the code since I cannot log as per the link instructions. Can someone post the code please! Thanks! This is GREAT, I’ve been wanting to get this subscription for 2 years but no $$, at this price I’ll starve a few days…..

Wayne – thanks very much for looking, much appreciated. Guess next time I need to be quicker to the draw…..!

yes – move quick if you see me post a deal that I’ve found — I typically will only chase them if they have:
1. Readily available and verified usable coupon
2. Discount level that is rare or that I’ve not seen before
3. Of wide enough use to readers to be worth posting
The 8GB iphone refurbs sold out quick as did the refresh of the Apple hardware (some of which was 40% off list)…..
