Well, the article doesn’t say that they will be making 10 million of them, but it does say that Taiwanese manufacturer “Hon Hai [will] be producing next- generation iPhones for Apple and is the exclusive contract manufacturer for the new phones.”
There’s your 3G.
A Hon Hai official, who declined to be named, told Dow Jones Newswires that the company was in talks with Apple for the supply of a “more advanced version” of the current iPhone. The Hon Hai official declined to provide further details.
Apple spokeswoman Jill Tan declined to comment.
Of course she declined to comment! Like Apple is going to admit that every phone which they sell over the next few months will soon be an outdated chunk of EDGEness?
Hmmm…I wonder if this means there will finally be a 32GB iPhone, too?

I do enjoy 3G. I don’t have it locally, but I went to Calgary today and experienced it there.

Yeah, when I have used 3G I have been amazed by browsing speed. Since I don’t have it in San Angelo, hearing of any new 3G phone is not as exciting for me. But every time I go somewhere with it, I am soooo reminded of what I am missing. It would be nice to have a 3G iPhone, but it’s not a deal-breaker.
