I have to admit I'm a sucker for all (or most of) this stuff. For some reason Facebook is the always the least compelling and most annoying to me - love the connections with old mates and colleagues, hate, hate, hate all the crappy invites to compare movie tastes, or virtual cocktails offered, spamming applications etc.
I like Twitter a lot more. One thing I like a lot on it is tracking keywords - tell it to track 'blackberry' and sure you will see (and block out quite easily) a ton of noise, but you may also see something brand new before a lot of other people.
I know it's probably tremendously uncool to quote Scoble, but I like something he said the other day - a simple but true thing in my view - and I liked it so much I've forgotten the exact words, but the gist was the key to tools like Twitter and FriendFeed is to follow people who are smarter than you. Luckily, for me that leaves *tons* of scope ...

I’m promoting Gear Diary??? Man I’ve buggered up my settings again <img

I am @mas90guru on twitter - the hardest thing I've found is to locate people who are interesting to follow. Increasingly I'm finding the smaller blog writers are more interesting than the 100 lb gorillas who tend to speed post mostly links to their own stuff or a friend's.
To add people to my list, I looked at people I knew like Judie and assumed she was following smart people (she is) so I added them as well.
One thing that's cool if you're into tech (which I assume most people are) is that there are at least two people out at CTIA live blogging about the show.
@crackberry is Kevin from Crackberry.com - he twittered about the Verizon 8330 last night. I picked up the info and made sure our readers knew about it asap because I'd seen quite a few users on Howardforums and Blackberryforums pining for the Curve on a CDMA carrier.
@CTIA so far has been quiet but I don't think the main show has kicked into high gear. I noticed one message today about a session that they were in regarding mobile phone disappointments (to which I twittered -- "mobile browsing!"..)
The jury is still out on the whole Social scene. To me the more sites that arrive on the scene, the more the total value becomes diluted - and the higher likelihood that people give up in frustration.

Nice job summarizing Judie – I love how you’re able to put this all out there – the pros and cons.

I am @mas90guru on twitter – the hardest thing I’ve found is to locate people who are interesting to follow.
