Research in Motion on Monday unveiled a new online forum for Blackberry users to discuss issues concerning their devices. As noted on the Blackberry Support Community Forums Usage Guidelines, Blackberry Technical Advisors will periodically monitor the forum to assist with technical expertise. Apparently most of the Research In Motion staff will not participate. The site states that “Research In Motion staff are prohibited from participating in the BlackBerry Support Community Forums unless they have been specifically assigned to monitor the BlackBerry Support Community Forums”. Way to go RIM. Tell me again what makes this forum any better than CrackBerry.com, Howardforums.com, Blackberryforums.com and Pinstack.com (all sites staffed by volunteer experts)?

This seems, to me at least, very draconian on the part of RIM management. Why would you *not* want your employees participating in a forum that is there to help customers or share ideas?
And to your point Wayne on “why go here?” – I think the only “value” would be that it is an official site. But then again, that may devalue it.
