Guitar Hero III for Blackberry

Posted on 03 April 2008 by

The CTIA show produced an announcement that the popular Guitar Hero program is now available for the Blackberry. It ships in either a one-time purchase version ($15) or subscription ($4.49/mo). Both versions include 15 initial tracks. The subscription version provides access to another 3 tracks each month. Check the link below for the lengthy list of Blackberry models supported. You can download this OTA (over the air) to your Blackberry via this link – though I have not found a way to activate a free trial – looks as if you have to pony up $15 / $4.49 before you can try it out.

I don’t know anything about Blackberry games, so I’m wondering, what does the subscription model get you here? Do you get new songs on a regular basis? Seems nuts to me.

Looks like you get 3 tunes per month? Now I have no idea if that’s three that you get to keep or if they expire.

Heck, I’m not even sure how much fun Guitar Hero will be on a Blackberry.

I just downloaded it OTA (over the air) and it’s a big 1.2 mb file. I’ll try to register it and take a look tonight.

Well, yes, the idea of playing Guitar Hero on a Blackberry does sound a little nuts in and of itself.

I played this on my Curve. The game uses MIDI tones for the tracks. While fun, it sounds like old NES or Atari, Commodore, etc. While the gameplay is sorta fun, I’m not paying money for General MIDI tones.
