Motorola spotlighted their upgraded Wimax ready CPEi 150 which is a self configuring doo-dad (not sure if that’s the technical term) that eventually will bring WiMAX wireless cellular data (assuming WiMAX works outside the lab) into your home later this year with zero configuration. With speeds demonstrated at CTIA of about 4.5mb down, WiMAX (when/if available/reliable in your neck of the woods) could become a wireless replacement for your home Internet connection. There has been some chatter than when WiMAX rolls out that satellite radio carriers Sirius and XM could face stiffer competition because Internet radio could be streamed nearly anywhere that WiMAX is available. Now if only the frequently postponed WiMAX service were available – and works as advertised. Product launch delays are usually not good news.
