Then it said "please wait for customer service" -- thinking that there was something wrong, I opted to stay on the line.
Then I was hit with a lengthy pitch to upgrade to several different programs.
The other thing I have a REALLY good skill at is attracting people in grocery carts to WHATEVER display that I happen to be standing in front of.
If I'm in Sams Club with my cart parked in front of a shelf of Preparation H - guaranteed no fewer than three people will come along and ask me to move so they can get to the shelf.
And it doesn't matter one bit what it is that I'm standing in front of. The mere fact that there is a human blocking a shelf of any kind seems to attract shoppers like crazy...

Today I tried to activate automatically. It's ironic, because when you actually do call wanting to talk to a human it's damn near impossible.
Which reminds me of another pet peeve. Any time you call a company (cable, cell phone, satellite, credit card, whatever) for customer service they always ask you to punch in your umpteen digit account number "in order to serve you better." But then when you finally get a human, the first thing they always ask for is the exact same number! Duh!!
Is there really such a thing as "customer" service anymore? It's all "company" service. They make it as easy and inexpensive as possible for themselves and let the customer be damned.

Then, I purchase small items online such as buying more minutes for my phone card to verify the card is actually activated. I did this several times so far, and every single time, the card was already activated and ready to use.

When I activate a new credit card, I just hang up the phone when the system says it will transfer to a customer representative.
