Just Another iPhone Chat Isn’t…Because I Am On There, Too

Posted on 24 April 2008 by

A couple of weeks ago, Patrick (from JAMM and JAiPB) asked if I would like to take part in a new podcast with him and Dan. I said “sure,” and then busily kept doing my thing (and almost forgot about it)…until today. Patrick IM’d me earlier this afternoon to say that we were doing a test run at 10pm, and we doing the real thing on Monday at 10.

So I tuned in at 10, fully expecting it to be a sound check with a few “fake” guests calling in to test the system; we would gab for a minute, then do the real thing on Monday. Well, a few minutes turned into almost two hours, but in the meantime we managed to have a lot of fun amidst technical difficulties – all the while completely resisting Patrick’s attempts to keep us somewhat on topic.

I had no idea tonight’s show would be recorded and kept, but it was. It’s pretty rough, pretty silly in parts, and yeah – we are all rank amateurs. But you know what? We had fun. So if you would like to hear the chat, you can. And if you would like to take part in the “real” live chat on Monday, you are very welcome to attend. And yes, as always, I know I sound like a dork. ;-)

Read on for a post I ripped from JAiB, where Patrick explains it all…

Here’s something we’ve been meaning to do, and talking about doing, for ages – and we’re finally getting round to it.  We’re going to start up a weekly live podcast / chatfest on all things iPhone.  It’s called Just Another iPhone Chat – and we’re running it on TalkShoe, Monday nights at 10pm Central Time, starting next Monday, April 28th.

Earlier tonight Dan and Brandon and I, accompanied by the marvelous Judie Lipsett from Gear Diary, had a real blast doing some testing and a bit of a trial run.  We had set out to do a quick 30-minute trial run.  We ended up ‘trialing’ it for nearly two hours – covering lots of good iPhone topics, straying way, way off topic, and getting some awesome audience participation from @jcjdoss and @lividhatter – thanks again guys.

So starting next Monday night we hope you’ll come listen in and join in.  We’ll cover the same sort of mix of topics as we do here – news, rumors, apps, jailbreak methods, and tips and tricks.  The great thing with TalkShoe is you all can join in – via live chat and via calling in with your comments and questions.  If you’re interested, we’ll be putting a badge in the sidebar – but here are the main details:

Just Another iPhone Chat
Monday Nights – 10pm US Central time
If you register at TalkShoe (free) it makes call-in and all the rest of it a little easier
Click the graphic at the top of this post or go HERE to see full details, join the call when it’s live, listen to past episodes (when there are any), download it, subscribe via RSS, and follow us on TalkShoe (please do).

Our rambling and waaaay long trial run is up there now as well :)

Oh – and we would *love* to hear your suggestions for topics you’d like us to cover.  Hit us with those in the comments, or via the Tips page at the top of the site.  Hope you’ll join us on Mondays …

I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford
