The news has been leaking out over the last three or four days about a rumored iMac refresh due Tuesday. While this probably means faster and bigger iMacs for those needing the very best – for the rest of us it means one thing. The refurbished section of the Apple web site will likely have bigger deals on the barely older models. This happened on the day of the last MacBook and MacBook Pro refresh – where deals of up to 40% off older models were available. From what I’ve read, the refurbished section of the Apple store doesn’t distinguish between old models and models that have been repaired — so you may wind up with a never used computer at a fat discount. It’s worth keeping an eye on (FYI – for comparison purposes prior to refresh – iMac refurbs are currently 17% off retail).

I’ve wanted a new iMac for a couple of months, but have been holding off buying because of rumors that new ones were due. Someone on the MacRumors forum told me emphatically they weren’t updating the iMacs until August, so last Wednesday I went ahead and ordered one. The very next day GeekSugar posted that they were due next week! Fortunately I was able to cancel my order and plan to reorder next week. Hopefully the update will be worth the wait.
I also finally ordered the Macbook Air that’s been calling a siren’s song to me. It will arrive Tuesday. What a Macweek!

I’ve got a maxed out 24″ on order now. Glad I waited: faster processor, faster RAM, faster front-side bus, faster graphics card, all for $220 less than last week!
