Kudos to Nurhisham Hussein at Pocket PC Thoughts for catching that Mobile01 has published their preview of the elusive 16GB HTC Advantage X7510. This is the Windows Mobile device that most excites me at the moment, because I still miss the first generation Advantage I sold last fall in anticipation of the Shift – which I never bought. Go figure. ;-)

Nurhisham summarizes that “Along with some changes to the fascia (less buttons, no joystick), 16GB onboard flash memory, TouchFlo, a haptic keyboard, and WM6.1 – all of which we knew about – the preview drops the welcome news that the new Advantage will have USB2.0 connectivity and automatic screen orientation (you know, just like a certain Apple device).”

Those of us who can’t read Chinese can view the fabulous pictures in Mobile01’s HTC X7510 preview at their site, and then switch over to the (more or less) translated version to read their impressions.

On top of the cosmetic changes and internal improvements, it looks like the camera might also have been tweaked. I don’t know how well it will serve for reading eBooks without the joystick, but I’d love the opportunity to find out. Unfortunately, I’ve been told that the X7510 uses the same Qualcomm chips which have been in the middle of litigation since last year; I just don’t know if the X7510 will ever be available here. :sigh:

Ah well, in the meantime enjoy Mobile01’s eye candy. :-)
