Just when you think you’ve seen it all – here comes Verb For Shoe. They have created a $700 pair of shoes only a super geek could love. The company, which appears to have sprung from an MIT project that founder Ronald Demon developed, have just started shipping their latest shoe project. Here’s how it works (according to their site). When a Verb for Shoe wearer encounters another Verb for Shoe wearer, they both tilt their foot slightly and contact information is wirelessly exchanged. Later after returning to a PC, you can upload the days contacts…from your shoe. A picture of the shoe was well as an illustration of how it works are on the next page, so keep reading.

.

Here’s how the whole shoe contact sharing thing goes down according to their web site.

First stand within one meter of each other.

Now both shoe wearers point their toes to the ground and hold for 5 seconds. I’m not sure what happens if other users are doing the same thing within a meter of you (think subway).

Both shoes beep 5 times and contact information will be exchanged.

Now run home and synchronize to your PC to upload contact information exchanged with other Verb for Shoe wearers.

What more can be said about this than – wow. PS – It’s probably not a good idea to wear these through airport security.

Additional information from the companies press release:

In addition to signature styling, the shoe features an embedded
computer which provides:

– Auto Comfort: The shoes automatically adjust comfort according to the
wearer’s movements.
– Wireless Link: A wireless link allows the shoes to link with your PC.
– Contact Sharing: The shoes wirelessly communicate with each other,
exchanging contact information among different wearers.

The Experience includes:
– New Romantic: A collection of interactive music videos featuring the
shoes in various cultural settings.
– Tech Square: Describes the raw technology.
– The Chronicles: A frequently updated blog chronicling the Verb For Shoe
phenomena.
– Ron’s Studio: Gets personal with Ronald Demon, creator of Verb For
Shoe.
– The Nation: An online forum where Verb For Shoe enthusiasts world-wide
can share experiences and learn about upcoming events.

    Wayne,

First of all, where do you find this crazy stuff?

Second, who pays $700 for shoes?? Especially ones this ugly?? (OK, don’t answer that).

Third, this whole concept assumes that you can find another person using the $700 bugly shoes. I mean, if you can’t get two people in the same room using a Zune, what makes you think there will ever be two people in the same room using these?

Fourth, why would you possibly need to exchange contact infromation via a shoe (unless you were Agent 86). I mean, if you could afford $700 connected shoes, then you could certanly afford a very nice PDA or even a Shift.
