I think you are right about the settling of prices, too. This is like so many other consumer electronics – the first ones are 1K, and the early adopters pay the tax. Then the basic devices eventually settle at about $99 a few years later. (i.e. – microwaves, VCRs, DVD players, bookshelf stereos, etc., etc.)

I'm not sure if there were any in stock (and I think it would be a better idea for anyone with decent coverage to consider Sprint for their $99/unlimited which includes BIS and unlimited SMS/MMS (when avail) ). I haven't seen a Blackberry 8830 for under $250 to $300. I think there may also be a $100 carrier rebate though I'm not sure if that rebate would apply to a Walmart purchase - so ymmv. I do not think there's enough usable feature difference to justify the wide price variations between low/high end models. I bet that these settle down to a commodity like $125 to $150 within a year.
