Here’s a cool new search tool from web site Addict-o-Matic. It’s cool because you specify the sites to search (Google News, Yahoo News, Youtube, Flickr) and results are displayed in movable boxes, categorized by site. This makes it easier to scan top results from numerous sites (as opposed to Google results which show a top to bottom list of results that are not categorized by where they were found).

Here’s an example of a quick search using my name.

Notice that the results below are easily categorized by the site the results are found within. If I don’t want to see any of the sites in my search results, I can remove them by clicking the “X” in their results box.

You can also click the “Available Sources” and narrow down which sites Addict-O-Matic searches.

While Addict-O-Matic won’t replace Google anytime soon, it is a cool way to search the web quickly when you want to easily view results on a site by site basis.
The site also has a very handy set of “canned” searches that you can access at the bottom of their page.

Popular searches such as: Gossip, Election 2008, Web 2.0, Gadgets – are all provided. This is similar to what other services such as Netvibes provide, however these are already pre-set for you.
