I would only recommend the fj if you plan on offroading some.
otherwise, stick to the element.
Christopher-
i totally respect CR as they are not supported by automaker advertising dollars.
They are correct on most accounts, but the funny thing is that as they also report, owner satisfaction is high. That happens quite often with "niche" vehicles like this. The Jeep wrangler is a beast to drive on the road but loyal fans wont switch.
As with most vehicles tested by journalists, we only spend a limited amount of time in them, then on to the next one which might be a completely different style.
Owners will drive them all the time and get used to blind spots, ingress/egress issues, handling issues, etc.
Thank goodness we have a vast choice in the marketplace.
BTW-anyone seen the LG Vu phone? we are looking at upgrading phones and service and that was shown to us at the att store.

Kerry-<br

Consumer Reports really disliked this vehicle and rated it very poorly. The disliiked the road ride, the poor fuel economy (Not to mention the fact that it needs Premium, the the bad visibility, and what they called marginal road handling characteristics. They had other complaints to about the rear opening doors and the overall fit and finish.
They thought it handled great offroad, though, and the owner satisfaction ratings are high.
I looked at these, but I kind of steered away after the CU report came out. Your review certainly provides a totally different perspective!

It’s really interesting reading your comments. Great review!

David, would you recommend this FJ Cruiser over say the Honda Element?
